In this current position I privately tutor middle school students in mathematics, using a variety of techniques to help students increase their mathematics ability and confidence.

I worked here as a 1st grade teacher.  Here I worked with a wide variety of students, ELL students, students with emotional and behavioral needs, and students with special educational needs.  Here I used Scott Foresman Reading Street and Every Day Math.

I worked here as a 1st grade teacher.  I also taught 5th grade in the same school.  Both experiences here have been very positive and I have learned a lot about myself and fine tuned my teaching style.

8 week student urban teaching station 2This was a 4th grade inclusion classroom with students with many different needs.  In this experience differentiating instruction became a key part of lesson planning.  Also IEP and 504 plans were heavily used to guide the instruction.

Pre-practicum for Creative Arts in Education Class Here I spent time participating in Kindergarten and Second Grade music education classroom experiencing how to tie the arts into the curriculum.

2 Pre-practicums were completed at this location, the first one in reading and the other in social studies.  The experience in the social studies class was spent in a 6th grade classroom.  The reading experience was spent in a 5th grade reading class.  Here I was introduce to and honed my experience Guided Reading, Literature Circles, Readers Theater and whole class instruction to involve students while differentiating instruction.

In this setting I participated in a fourth grade classroom spending time participating in a responsive classroom setting.  Here I first started implementing the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks into whole class instruction.

This setting was multiage classrooms with 3 teachers teaching grades 4-6 as a team. The classes were integrated with multiple ages in one class.  Here I developed classroom management skills, began whole class instruction, and learned the importance of differentiated instruction.
